In the moBt important election held in Kora tor years, ,the people last Saturday in the special election to vote (or or aKainst a bond Issue of $29,600 decided to go forward by a rousing majority.
There were 506 votes polled, ot which 446 were recorded for the bonds and 69 against a majority ot 387 (or the proposition, almost nine to one.
Much credit for the splendid vlc- rory is due the Flora Commercial Club (or the fight they made (or tho proposition, and especially to J. Bow¬ man, chairman ot the industrial com¬ mittee, and E. R. Bailey, chairman of the cItIc committee, and the other members of their committees (or the organized effort they made to win. Fact is,, that after the great majority *( Flora's eitisenship saw the abso¬ lute necessity o( carrying the elec¬ tion (or the city's (uture growth and prosperity, there was a magnifioeat rally to the eaaae by the mass ot ottr population—and in the wonderful progressive victory there is glory enough (or every one who assisted

Word reached . Flora' Wednesday that the Orchard City 8Uta Bank, o( Xenla, had been closed that day by Sank Examiner Miller Ware, with the announcement that it would not be reopened until a complete exam¬ ination and adjuiUment o( Its atfalrs could be made.
President Asher R. Cox is absent and full particulars of the bank's condition cannot be ascertained but it may be stated that the stockhold¬ ers possess large outside resources and it is believed that there will be no loss to the creditors, even if the baak should fail to reopen for bus iness.
