WEDNESDAY NIGHT
About 9:30 Wednesday nlgbt a flre alarm was turned In and the de¬ partment found the barn ablaie on tbe Leo iMatt place, weat of the Bb¬ ner Ice & Cold Storage plant. The flames were subdued, but owing to the wind, began again atter mid¬ night and the bam was entirely con¬ sumed.

Fire Chief Yeck informs us that when the first alarm was turned in most ot the flre department boys -were home In bed, as It was 10 o'clock, and tbat a bunch of 16-year-old boys who were on the streets, took this hose cart frora the engine house— which they had no lega' right to do In absence of the regular firemen, and the tongue was broken out of the cart and tbe hose left In such bad shape that when the second cull came atter midnight, the flremen had nothing with which to work.
Mr. Yeck Informs us tbat no one but the Bremen had a right to the flre equipment and boys who take these liberties are subject to a flne for so doing.

DR.  SHUMAKER TO GIVE
CONCERT IN PLORA
Under auspices of the Aid of the Christian church Dr. Shumaker, ot St, Louis, assistant supt. ot city san¬ itarium, wlll give a recital at library hall April 29, at 8:15. He will be assisted in this by his accompaaist, Mrs. Leiand, and local talent, con¬ sisting ot readings' by Mesdames R. D. Finch and J. P. Rich; orchestra numbers directed by Miss Fry and piano by Hiss Wllma Irrin. Dr. Shumaker is a tenor of unusual abil¬ ity. He haaifctuilied several years in St. Louis wfth Mrs. Orace Leiand and alao with Prot. Marie, ot the Vincent d'Indy school of music In Paris.
He has made records fpr the Colum¬ bia grafonola. He IB -sow soloist for one of the leading churches in St. Louis. The entire proceeds of this recital will be placed In thn building fund for the new church. Admission SO and 35c.
On Wednesday Rush Stogsdill, of Lafayette. Ind., arrived in Flora to arrange tor ithe modem moTte sUow building which ia to be erected l-y the Cosmopolitan Advertising and Amusement Co.., an Indiana corpor¬ ation. Mr. Stogsdlll's brother, Ralph, who made the preliminary ar¬ rangements several months ago, has been ill, but Is improving.
The Company now has several con¬ tractors making estimates oo the proposed new struoture, which is to occupy the ground'bf the present opera house. |^a Company as¬ sumes charge of ^te''business on May let, an'd expects to use the Casino building during the summer while the new one is In process of erection.
The new pleasure palace Is to be ot stucco, with a tine new heating plant, and every modern conven¬ ience, together with up-to-date, high class picture service. The new ven¬ ture will cost the corporation con¬ siderable money and Flora citizens should be 1)ooster8 for the enterprise upon which the extra amount of m6ney will be spent to make the basiness modem  In every way.
