He is proprietor ot Yoclss' Hall, a notorious resort st SST ColUnsvllls avenue, where she waa employed. Mrs. Barnbouae was a principal witness in the inquest Into the death «t Wm. Ragen, who was killed by Patrolman Herman Oerklng In a brawl at the Tociss place last Jan. 24th. Oerktng, who is a traffic cop, was one ot tbe Isst persons to have seen Mrs. Barnhouae on Friday night before tbe murder, was arrested and placed In tbe Madiaon county Jail at Edwardsvllle, pending the cor¬ oner's inquest. When arrested at hla home at 1:00 a. m. Sunday by police, he was in a drunken stupor on a bed. it Is claimed that Mrs. Barnhouse wss s drug addict. Authorltlea flz the time ot the murder about 8:00 o'clock Friday aight on the statement ot two fisher¬ men who heard shots and a woman's scream about that time. Two blood¬ stained spots 10 teet apart just ott tbe Eagle Park road, east ot Oranlte City, and a tew hundred teet from the shore ot Horseshoe Lake, located ihe murder scene. Two tin mill workers who were In a club house nearby related that there were three shots flrst. In about flve minutes there were two more and then a sixth. The bullet wounds were two In the right elde of the chest, ope In the left side, one In the right shoulder, ons under the right arm and one in the right thigh. Deputy Coroner John Tate, a form¬ er Plora citlsen, was to have held an Inquest at his undertaking estab¬ lishment at 2118 State street. Granite City, at 3:00 p. m. Tuesday, but the date bas been changed to Thursday «t this week. The body of Mrs. Barnhouse was' brought to Flora Monday morning and the funeral services were held from the C. R. Hann home Tuesday afternoon at 1: SO, conducted by Rev. J. C. Fowler, pastor ot the U. B. church, who delivered an Impressive asrmon. Interment was In Elm¬ wood cemetery. lira. Barnhouse waa a daughter of ths Iste Conductor Harry Murray and the tamily resided In west Flora antll Mr. Murray's death. Her slater Mrs, Msirgaret Mann, wite ot Fire¬ man C. R. Mann, is now residing at ths old home place. Besides her husband she is surrlTed by a ten-year old danghtsr. Miss Fyrn Flick proved a charming hoatess on Tuesday night at the home ot her parents, Mr. and Hrs. W. O. Flick southeast ot Xenia. The fac¬ ulty members ot the city schools and thbir (elks were Invited to the conntry boms to spend the evening as her gnests. During the eveniag gamea and conteata were enjoyed and In con¬ junction with these amusements Miss Frya announced her approaching marriage. Each guest was given a tiny sack fliled with rice aad attach¬ ed to tbe sack by a dainty ribbon was a card bearing the inscription, "Fyrn Flick—Floyd O. Baity, June IS, 1»M." Atter the surprise (?) sad eongrstulations, dainty refreab- msnts were served. The color scheme ot pink and white was carried out. The stores are to close at noon, jmA plans are under way to have several talks, music by a band, and then marcb to tbe cemetery where graves ot soldiers ot all wars are to be decorated, and a salute will be flred by the American Legion detail . Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taylor, Mrs. B. K. Bsaver, Hrs. B. D. Teck, Mrs. Fsrdinand Tonney, Mrs. J. B. Oshan and Miss Msry Major. Rev. and Mts. Vf. I. Terhune of Sparta, went over with the Flora bunch. O. E. SCOTT FAMILT MOVING Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Seott and son Ralph will lesve the Istter psrt ot ths week tor Breese to reside. Mrs. Scott end son are prominent in music circles of the community and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Scott has been assistant choir director In Christian churcb. She Is also a mem- her ot Womans Club and Criterion Club. Ralph plays trombone in Mias Ethel Fry's orchestra. The 1926 Harstan, the high school annual, was delivered by the Journal- Record printing department to the high school Monday and the students received theirs Tuesday. The annual tMf ybitr was a success from a flnan¬ eial standpoint, and a beautiful book. It contalna many pages of pictures, snaps, write-ups, etc., and a full ac¬ count ot the school activities of the year. Tba.class this year were able to sell close to 300 annuals, which is Indeed a One record. ATTENDING H. a T. H. S. Mrs. Mary Clark and family have attended the week's H. S. activities aa they always do. The late C. C. Clark was one of the promoters of the present H. S. Mrs. Clark has three children ot the Alumni;Mrs. H. M. Moats ot Beecher City, Lewis Clark, a senior at Bradley Tech., Peoria; Miss Irene, teacher in our city schools. PAVE KEITH IN ST. LOUIS POR TREATMENT Faye Keith, who has been suffer¬ ing with his eyea, is a patient at medical clinic In St. Louis this week. His affliction Is unusual and haa baffled medical authorities for some time. A surgeon ot the Mayo ataff ot physicians at Rochester, Minn., is a member ot the clinic who is sz- amining him.
