Amon)? the many forms ot modern gatherings none so appeal to the better sentiment ofa eommnnity than these Home Comings which have become so popolar of recent years.
The opportnnity ia presented not only to greet the wanderers, but to enable tbe wanders to meet each other. Many states and cities and many oonnties are getting np these festal gstherlDua, and everywhere they are largely attended and meet with great success.
And tbis brings ns to the main qnes¬ tion: Why not have a Home Coming In Clay County next year? Hundreds, y*s, thonsands of former citizens ot this county are now resii'ents ot other
' eonnties and other states. Why not Invite tbem to make another visit to Old Clay, and gire them a royal welcome'. We can profit by the experience of oth¬ er* and avoid their mistakes. It takes nearly a year to work op one ot these gatberiii);s pioperiy. ami if anything ia to be done, a meeting should be held soon and the'plan* discussed. Neces¬ sarily n largs amount of the work must devolve npon the newspspeiji. The Journal can be called npon tor every possible aid and we believe we oan vouch fgr the other pHiiers In the «ounty.
