The Junior banquet to the Seniors of ttie II-S.T. nigh School was a bril¬ liant alTalr last Wednesday night at the high school gym room. The ad¬ dress of welcome was given by Lloyd Gould, of the Juniors, and the re¬ sponse was by Don Coggan. The room was decorated with tlie class colors of tjie Seniors—red and white. The banquet was served in ttiree courses, interspersed wttti snappy toasts and roasts by members of the classes. The members of the cooking class and their teacher, Kiss Seed, prepared tlie menu, and served In ex¬ cellent .style. A real fraternity spirit prevailed. •
A delightful event of la.st Friday was the 12:00 o'clock dinner served by tlie memtiers of the cooking class tn the dining room at the litgli school to the members of the High School Hoard of Directors and their wives and Professor and Mrs. F. W. Cox. All enjoyed the eats, and the charm¬ ing hospitality of ttie class and their teaciier.

Interviewed a few days ago by a representative of the Chicago ¦Tribune, Hon. T. S. Williams of this, the 24th district, said: "I Introduced a bill today for the repeal of the day¬ light saving law, which Is one of the chief things people of Southern Illl- fiols want. My constituents are for amendment of Immigration laws to provide for the deportation of un- ¦deslrable aliens. Tlie people of Southern Illinois believe In the old- fashioned policy of minding your own business, and lience are opposed to ttie league of nations as now drawn."
Mr. Williams has also Introduced a special bill authorizing the Secretary of War to donate to tliis city (Flora,) one of the cannon or Held pieces ciuiUired from the German army by 11 If American forces, the same to be v. : up tn ttie City Park and matn- t.uoed tliere permanently.
