This club ranks as the second old¬ est it the state. It Is purely literary club and in the twenty nine years of its existence has been a great help and uplift to Its members. Its anni¬ versaries are looked forward to by Its members and guests with pleasurable anticipations. Tlie club resident membership is limited to twenty, but those who liave been members and no longer reside In Flora, are al¬ ways remembered with cordial Invi¬ tations to be present. On this occa¬ sion Mrs. C. II. Warner and Mrs. W. L. Suggett, who have seldom missed an anniversary were prevented from being present. The former by reason of the serious illness of lier mother, and the latter because of spending the winter in Aslivlile, S. C.
Many things have occurred during the I'fe of this club, which are me¬ morial In their good influence upon the members, and give distinguished pleasure when called to mind. Each anniversary has been a red letter day for the club, and we hope will con¬ tinue to be for many, many years to come.
The wreck which overtook passen¬ ger train No. 122 which left Bearts- towu on the morning of February 5, for Flora fortunately resulted In but slight Injuries to the passengers and damage to the company. The acci¬ dent was caused by a broken bolt and WIS not blamable to any one.
