October of last year Oov. Len Small, accompanied by Col. C. R. Ulller and Frank T. Sheets of the State Highway Department, vlslte'i Flora and were entertained by Fio-.'a people at a dinner in the basement of the Christian church.
Governor Small and party were welcomed by citizens of the city and county without regard to politi:;aI stflllatlons and Prpsidtnt F. H. Simpson of the Commercial club. In- . troduced Oovernor Small at conclu¬ sion of the dinner, and In the short talk he made on hard roads, tha Oovernor promised to have under contract Route 12 from Vincennea to East St. Louis, and Route 25 from Kankaliee to Flora, during 1924.
This promise, made to Flora and Clay county hard road boosters, has been fulfilled. From Lawrencevill? to East St. Louis practically every mllo of Ihe Midland Trail has been contracted and nearly all of it will be finished by December 1 of tills year. From Flora to Kankakee .ill the mllease his been contracted iml most of It is built and tliis year will witness practically all the mlleaKe from Flora to Kankakee slabbed.
