The friendly encouragmient we havs received froiu varions sources hae been { gratifying indeed. This Is parUoularlj true of the ifclnlsters of the city, who have wlthont etcirptlon given the most ll bearty indorsement to oar attitude, one minister, Bev. L. D. Heok, reterriog to it from the pnlpit. And even one sa loon keeper, who we have svery reason to believe has not been guilty of suoh nefarious practices,bas given the srticle his entire approval.
The unfavorable criticisms and vio¬ lent abuse have not been nneipected. But we do not propose Jto be drawn into a peraonal controversy, nor to be di¬ verted from the main point at issa.-, which is the lax enforcement, or rather non .enforcement of the law by the Mayor. . '¦.
