The Community Christmas tree program mentioned in laat week's Journal-Record, were oig features Of the Chriatmaa celebratton this year in Flora.
Possibly 1000 people gathered on tbe bank square Sunday attemoon, listened to the fine rogram and the Address by Rot. Zink.
The tree was an extra fine one, being as tall as any two-story busi¬ ness building on the street, prettily decorated and at nigbt tne red, white nnd blue electric light Illuminations were grand.
There was a most commendable spirit of co-operation evidenced by organizations and Indtriduals, thus guaranteeing the most perfect har¬ mony and complete success' of the undertaking.
Santa Claus, clothed In his red out-fit, black boots and whiskers whiter than ever, was In evidence and they were many donors of Christmas gifts for citizens of our clly and their children wno were less fortunate than other citizens, and tbe true Chrstmas spirtt of giving permeated the very atmosphere.
Last week we spoke of aome or¬ ganizations that were co-operating to make the undertaking a success, but were not fully Informed and Pres¬ ident F. H. Simpson of the Commer¬ cial Club, called our attention to the unintentional omission of the B. of R. T. and tbe various lodges who were lending excellent ara In ths work.
From Information rurnished us this week, we are using the following to give an Idea of the forces that were at work In this fine community exercises:
The Rotary, Commercial and Wo¬ man's Clubs, together with the dif¬ ferent lodge organizations and In¬ dividual citizens of the city co-op¬ erated with the B. of R. T., the or¬ ganization which did so much last year for relief of the wortny needy people of Flora.
Mlss Carolyn Dayton was chosen treasurer.
Money and articles were donated as follows: $260 in cash, 250 cans ot truit and Jellies, 70 tins ot vegeta¬ tes, potatoes, sugar, flour, coffee, butter, chickens, fuel abd clothing.
About 56 baskets and boxes were prepared, each family receiving 24- lb aaek of flour, pound cotfee, or¬ anges iind candy, one or two chick¬ ens, potatoes, halt pound butter. 3- ibs. sugar, cabbage, sweet potatoes, 2 to 6 cans fruit and tins of vege¬ tables.
Mr. Stogsdlll included a tamily ticket In each basket tor bis movie.
Mesdames Friend, Pritchett, J, L. Tibbs, Frank Medley and E. a. Bunch were committee on solicita¬ tion and responsible ror preparation and distribution ot baskets. The merchants contrlbutea the use ot their trucka tor diatributlon.
The program as published last week, was rendered in fine style. Miss Mary Ellis and Mrs. Meryl L. Oahan being In charge of the program and carol singing. In which the high and grade schools ana the churches were represented.
Mlss Minnie E. Cole and Mrs. D. E. Scott bad charge ot the tree decorations. Rotary Club furnished tbe tree. The South ward children made stars and belts. Tbe city donated tbe lights and wiring.
Preeident Simpson or the Com¬ mercial Club, and President Friend of the llotary Club, were quite active in tbe work. Bryden A Hoover and J. Bowman donateet services in erecting the platform ror the tree.
The Community Christmas tree Idea was thus carriea out to a most successful conclusion.
MBS. ROBERTSON DIES MO.NDAY
Mrs. Taylor Robenson died at her home on Maple street In this city, Monday afternoon, Dec. 25, 1*22, at 12:30 o'clock. Her death resulted trom pneumonia.
On Wedneaday tbe nneral services were held from a country church near Sailor Springs, conducted by Key. O. W. Zink, pastor ot the Flora Christian church. Interment was made tn a nearby cemetery.
Mrs. Robertson is survived by her husband, tbree sons ana tnree daugh¬ ters.

Chrlatmaa day trains 47 and 48 from Flora to Shawneetown were re¬ stored to tbe old schedule as betore the shopmen's strike. Tbis Is'a big accommodation to the people of Flora and the aonth end ot the branch road.

Witb the passing of this week the year 1922 will have closed another cycle's page. It bas oeen a year ot turmoil In many lands and our own has not escaped some exciting eyents, hut we have emerged In better shape than all other nations of mankind. For this we should be appreciative.
