Any person who shall perform any service In the Interest of any candi¬ date for atiy mitnination or election for any ofllce provided In this act. In consideration of any money or valu¬ able things, or for ''treats" or for appointment to any ofllce or employ¬ ment under such city or village, fnr such service performed In the Inter¬ est of any such candidate, or any candidate who shall make a promise of money or other valuable things, or to any perstm to an ortice In the event of the nomination or election «f such candidate, In consideration of such person performing any service in the Interest of said candidate upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding three hundred dollars or be imprisoned in the coun¬ ty Jail not exceeding thirty days, or both, In the discretion of the court.
