Big Rush and Bit Business
Saturday and Saturday night of last week were busy times in Flora. Throngs of people from every dlrei- tion were seen coming to town, and they kept on coming and remained until a late hour to do trading. Tlie stores were all rushed and It was al¬ most Impossible to get in some of them. Scudamore Bros, state that it was difflcult to wait on tiielr custom¬ ers, so many of them come In at once and kept on coming, but with extra lieip and by remaining open Hnlil al¬ most Sunday they managed to gtt along Well enough to make a record breaking sale for llie half day and night.
Cecil Brown reports an immense business in men's suits and furnish¬ ing good.s. The same kind of rush and prosperity is reported from prac¬ tically all (jf our business houses. We again predict that the abundant crops In this section will bring an un¬ precedented good business to Clay county.

Tills club has a lot of good things to its credit, and ts worthy of support from every one In Flora who desires to see our little city more beautiful and a finer town to live in. Tip your hat every time you meet a meml)er of this club and make it known that you appre¬ ciate their generous work.
New SttniUry School Law
The Record Is puhli.sliing in this issue a lull text of the new .¦ictuH)! law which went Into eHect .July 1st. last. This law provides for liniiij changes which must be made in the arrangenaent of school houses; and for better sanitary conditions. The pen¬ alty for non-compliance witli its pro¬ visions are intended to l>e self acting or more properly speaking, penaliziiig the si-hool district automatically by depriving negligent districts of any part of the slate sdiool lund.
Superintendent G. O. Lewis advises us tliat no part of the state school fund can be paid to any district un¬ less the law is compiled with, within the limit tixed for such changes, in 1917. The law makes it the duty of the county superintendent to assist each school in the way of giving plans and information as to tlie law's de¬ mands. This wiirk Supt. Lewis Is ready to do at any lime from now on by visiting di.stricls and rendering aid.
It may be slated and Impressed up¬ on school Dlik'ials that It Is for tiie in¬ terest of their districts financially and tlie future welfare of their scliools, that all requirmenls of this new law bs complied with as speedily as pos¬ sible.
