SONETHING HURTING THE JOURNAL
Journal Editor, a Vitriolic Tirade,
Sees Far Enoufh Ahead to Feel
Himself A'SUppin'
With uniform expressions the newspaper fraternity has made couir teous mention of the change In the ownership of the Record, and spoken kindly of the retiring owner and ed¬ itor, Mr, W, T. McClure, and In the same kindly way of the new owner and editor, Mr. E. B. Gorrell, There is one marked exception, however. The Journal, whose editor. In a vi¬ triolic tirade, refers to the change, "As flabby as well as wobbly political principles, etc." This Is frora an ed¬ itor whose wobbly, flabby political principles have been of a kind that makes a record of two Hops In four years. No change of editor was needed by the Journal to make a change of political principles. The old one could do that at any time without a blush for his kaleidoscopic somer¬ saults. In doing this, he shows him¬ self an "Obfus-cat-us" and a mind prolific with confusion, bewilderment and darkness, when It ceines to seeing Ills own inconsistencies. lie seems to have a deatii grip upon that kind of political principles which places one astride the fence, ready to goon either' side wlienever conditions prom¬ ise to attract attention or secure gain. It Is quite evident that something is hurting him somewhere and Is pro¬ ducing an exciting Irritation, that makes hlm forget the declaration an¬ nounced In Ills editorial, "That the Journal Is always and everywhere In favor of sustaining harinonious rela¬ tions with everybody, especially a competitor, and will not knowingly say or do anything to disturb pleas¬ ant relations,'' A declaration which seems to have all the ear marks, judg¬ ing by all the evidences, of hypocrit¬ ical and misleading assertion and as untrue In Its assertion as It is In Its pretended practice.
