CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS-
A MEETING OF NUCH INTEREST
Council met in regular session May 10, 1916 at 8 o'clock p. m. Pre.sent, Mayor Price, Commissioners," Boyles, Medley, Petit and Tlirogmorton.
On motion bond of Raymond R. Foster as Treasurer was approved and ordered tiled by the clerk.
Ordinance No. 2i*). -Naming de¬ partments and detining duties of otti¬ cers was read and on motion passed. By resolution the following a.ssign- ments were made:
1st nepartment, Public Affair, Mayor Price.
2nd Department, Accounts and Fin¬ ance, Com. Boyles.
;ird Department. Public Health and Safety. Com. Throguiorton.
4th Department, Streets and Public Improvement, Com. Medley.
5th Department, Public Property. Com. Petit.
Ordinance No. 2i\.— Fixing com¬ pensation of ottlcials was read and on motion passed. Mayor salary. J'J.'iO; each (Commissioner, -iUK); City Clerk, $'2(iO; Treasurer, $50 and Collector, $;iOO per annum, to be In full compensa¬ tion for all services.
Ordinance No. "242 -Designating each .Monday at the hour of 7:30 p. m. as regular meeting dates was lead and past.

offlce of Superintendant of Streets was read and passed.
Ordinance No. 245.--To provide for the collection of all money due the city from the electric light and water plants was read and passed.
By rasolutlon the Coininissioner of Finance was ordered to have the books of all out going ottlcials and the Police Magistrate audited as s^ion as convenient and all collections made by J. C. Meyer as collector of special taxes turned over to the City Treas¬ urer.
Sealed bids from the Journal and Record to do the city printing were opened and read. Tlie Record being the lowest bidder, was awarded tlie contract and made the ottlclal organ of the City.
A special meeting was tixed for8:0(i o'clock Frida.\ evening at the t'ily Hail. At which time the tJommer- clul (.'lub will be present and discuss matter of importance tolheCity witli the Commissioners. ,
Tlie new commission Is now fully organized for business and will as rapidly as possible bring all depart¬ ments into practical methodical working order.

Each la.ly was dressed in white and wore a buu- ijuet of fern and red carnation, thus Liearing out tfie lodge colors.
The program'of the evening was opened by singing "Aiuerlca", led by the children: after which a literary program was rendered. {Several musi¬ cal selections were given by the Mann Brothers, which were highly appre¬ ciated by all present. At the close of the program "God Be With Vou Till We Meet Again" was sung. Then all retired to the dining room where a two course luncheon, representing tlie lodge colors, was served, consisting of chicken salad, deviled eggs, sand¬ wiches and colTee, also ice cream and cake. All present were indebted to brother C. E. Hendrick's of Lodge No. .120 for the pleasure of enjoying the pictures at the'Casino after the evenings entertainment. At a late hour all departed for their homes congratulating themselves that in¬ deed It was good tu be there.
