President of the As.soclation, Col, .1, Mack Tanner, opened the meeting, and gave a short address on The Value of Orchards to the Cominunity, \,^ Mr, E, E. Hyers of Floragavea very
interesting talk on Cultivation of the Ortdiard lie brought out the points tliat cultivation was very Important and with proper cultivation of the orchardlst was able to eradicate weeds, conserve moisture aerate the .soil, liberate plant food and causes fruit production.
The afternoon program was of greal interest to every fruit grower.
Prof. P. A. Glenn, deputy state entomologist, gave an Illustrated lecture on the Control of the Codling Moth and when to Spray, He gave a report on the work carried on at Ol¬ ney, This work should be of great value to orchardlsts of this commun¬ ity as from tables and charts sliown it can be seen the time each brood Is the most destructive, the elTect of temperature on the development and the time to apply sprays to control the pest.
H. M. Dunlap gave a very Interest¬ ing and entertaining address on the work carried on in the Commercial orchard. This he Illustrated with a moving cloture, taken In orchards of this section and at his home at Savoy,
Prof, P, A. Glenn also gave an Il¬ lustrated lecture on San Jose Scale and Control. He brought out the fact that by co-operation among the farmers as well as the fruit growers was Important to holtl this pest In check as a great many hedges in tlie county are very badly infested with the pest.
The following resolution was voted on and passed hy tiie members of the Association and growers present at the meeting.
"To the people of Clay and adjoin¬ ing counties.
Whereas the San Jose Scale has spread to all parts of our fruit grow¬ ing districts and hence threatens the life of the fruit industry so neces.sary to llie prosperity of many and in¬ directly of all.
Therefore, Resolved that we the Clay County Apple Growers Associa¬ tion invite the ctxiperatloii of all owners of Infested trees, shrubs, or hedges to the end, that they knowing the presence thereon of scale, may proceed to exterminate the scale by spraying or by removing the Infested trees, hedges or shrubs.
Kesolved further that such owners be advised that the continued pres¬ ence of scale on their premises makes tlieir property a public nuisance If no steps are take by the owner to abate the Infe.statlon and
Kesolved further that non-resident owners be served with notice ol any Infestation of their premises by the San Jose scale and that failure on their part to abate the nuisance be reported tothe state entomologist and state attorney with the reiiuest that the law be enforced against them."

H, M. Dunlap gave a full descrip¬ tion on the process of making lime sulphur.
After this discussion Mr. L, Gull- lantlen of Olney read a paper by I'rof. Halloul on Kertlll/.ation Experi¬ ment In Ohio. Tills was very Inler¬ esling and several good points In re¬ gard to maintaining fertility were brought out,
Mr. J. A. Drew of Fairlleld took np the subject of Kllster Canker and brought out the point that this par¬ asitic disease could not be cured but must be prevented by cutting out the cankered limbs. This disease tle- I velops more rapidly In dry seasons. I Prof, H. S.  Pickett of the ITnlvers-
E        Ity of Illinois gave very  thoroughly the Life History and Control  of  Ap¬ ple Scab.   As this disease Is carried over the winter on the leaves found under the tree one of the most  im¬ portant means of control Is the  plow- \       ing or discing under these Infected I       leaves   however this will not  com- i       pletely control the disease but will hold it In check  and controls to a great extent the primary Infections. He advised the  use of lime sulphur to control this disease.
