FLORA, ILLINOIS, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1. 1917 NUMBER 19 Crosses the Great Divide PROMINENT PEO¬ PLE PASS AWAY SEVERAL DEATHS ARE REPORTED fn Clay Countr tlie Past Week —Some Age«l„ Others in the Prime of Lifn Sailor Springs, III., Jan. 30—W, H. Odell was born, in Indiana, Dec. 8, 1840; died at his home in Sailor Spr.ngB, III,, Jan. 16, 1917, aged 76 years, 1 month and 8 days. He ans¬ wered the call of hts country In '61 and gavo the best years ot hia life for that cause. He also enlisted early In life as ai Christian soldier, and was ever faithful to the cause ot Christ, and wes ready and willing when the summoaa came, and I know has heard the Master say, "Welt done, good and fiulthful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the Joy of thy Lord." He leaves to mourn his loss, a companion, eight children, twenty- nine grand children, 21 great-grand children and a boat of relatives and friends. Funeral services were con¬ ducted by Rev. Hays at the Baptist church after which thp remains were laid to rest tn the Dillman. Cemetery, O love divine that stooped to share. Our sharpest pang, our bitterest tear. On thee we cast earh earth-born care; We smile at pain while thou art near. On thee we fling oiir burdening woe; O love divine for ever dear; Content to suffer while we know, Living and dying Ihou art near. —Holmes. ONE WHO LOVED HIM, Clarence Chandler Clarence Chandler, after a brief Ill¬ ness from pneumonia, passed away at the family residence two and one- half miles west of Flora Monday morning at IL.'iii, aged 4H years, ;! months and '26 days. Dededent Is survived by six chil¬ dren, two .sons and four daughters, viz,: Lowell, Roy, Edna, Stella, Wllma and Hazel, Funeral services were held yester¬ day morning at McCabe Cliapel at 11 o'clock, Mrs. Elizabeth Creek Mrs. Elizabeth Oeek. an aged and hlgtily respected lady, died ut the home of her daughter, Mrs. EtI. Love¬ land, at 11 o'clock .yesterday morning. Interment toniorinw at Foster Illll cemetery. Obituary nest week. Michael Conroy Michael Conroy ,;ir. of .\enia. after a two weeks' Illness died Ihls morn¬ ing of pneumonia. Funeral will be held lomnrrow at .St. Stephens (Cath¬ olic church.
