Ii)14 I The Different Churches of the City of Flora and a Summary of the Year's Work by Their Pastors Methodist Episcopal (By T)r. J. W. Ellnt) While dates are not always exactly the same, the conference year practi¬ cally counts frora Oct. 1st to Oct. 1st. The last year has contained no small degree of interest. At the lieglnning of the year the enrollment was 447. Of these about 50 were non-residents. During the year 10 members have died. Among them were, Mrs. Angle Chldlster, W. W. llemphill. Mrs. P. I'. Hrown and A. A. Milligan; four of the oldest members of the church. They are greatly missed, and precious Is their memory. There are .to additions to the membership during same time. At the last session of the annual conference the present paslor was re¬ appointed and began his third year's work with tne congregation. The recent re-orguni/utlon of the Sunday School rtiadeonly two changes in the ll.st of olllcer.s. Miss Golden who has lieen the etlicient pianist for several years is nnw ab¬ sent from the city, taking special musical training In St. Louis and Miss Kathryn Duff was elected to this important position. Wm. Karr, last year's faithful chairman is now in college at Chumpulgn and Victor Theobald was elected In his place. The others otticers were all re-elected. They are: Supt., N. E. Prince; Asst. Supt., A. R. Dreppard: Supt. graded lessondepartment, Mrs. .1. L. Uradley: Secy., A. U. Gaddis: Treas., Mrs. C. S. Mitchell. The school is in a strong, healthy condition and Is served by a faithful and etJIdent corps of teachers. The Adult Hlble Class for men with A. E. (iolden as president and .1. R. Powell as teacher Is one of the best of its kind In the county. The I'lances Wlliard Ladies HIbleClass, with Mrs. ! A. W. Irwln us president and Mrs. .1. 1 S. Barker as teacher Is u strong force [ both soclully and religiously. The t Young Men's Hlble cla.ss with Rex ^^m Cunningham as president and I'rof. S. ^B J. (,'urlee as teacher has taken on new ^^L life und Is rapidly liecomlng one of ^^K the strong features of the Sunday ^^^ Siiiool. ^^^^^ .\ splendid orcliestra under the dl- ^^^H^'ctlon of Miss Sadie Miller Is an add- I^BHKti musical attraction greatly appre¬ ciated by all. Miss Lillian .lenkins has done faithful work with the r S: iiome department, looking after tlie I shutins. On the whole tlie Sunday f. ScluHil Is In good shape and Hrother t; Prince, the true and faithful super- ^ intendent has much reason for en- i' couragement. The two ladles Mission I f.ry Smietles known as the W.F..M.S. K and W.H.M.S. are well organized ;un- i der presideniies of Mrs. .1. W. Flint I and Mrs. Mary Ilanna, and are mak¬ ing themselves felt In their reapec- tive Helds. The church Is well served every Sunday by Its excellent choir led by (;. E. Hemphill. Krom a muterlal stand point the greatest work of the year has been the completion and dedication of the new church. Its construcllon has been directed by the pastor and building committee, consisting of W. A. Karr, Dr. ,1. M. Boyles, A. E. Golden, C. E. Hemphill and N. E. Prince. Faithfully has this com¬ mittee labored to accomplish the end for which It was appointed by the I Iiuarterly conference. Raising the I necessary funds, amounting to a 111- i tie over *25,tiOO has been no small un¬ dertaking. It had been Impossible but for the loyal support of the con- [gregatlon which has been most liber¬ ally given. Gahan and the constant interest and Industry of the ladles of the congregation It was able to pay the lirst $.5,000, put in the liandsome arl glass window In the east side of the church, which stands as a companion piece to the family memorial window on the west side donated l^- Mrs. M. H. i'resley, each a work of art and beauty, and then on dedication day became responsible for an additional $2,00(1. The Sunday School has also shown Its interest by contributing *J,0
