How well these aims have heen carried out Is for others to judjfe, liut^ for ourselves, we feel tliat for a 1k'- blnnin^ we have no cause for dis¬ couragement hut much to give assur¬ ance that our efforts have been ap¬ preciated and much to encourage us in the l)e){irintng of a new year for greater success. Hy reference to our weekly issues It will be seen that we have good correspondents from every town and community in the county, giving tlie local and Interesting news from tlieir vicinities, making The Record, as we promised it would be, like a letter from lioiue. To these splendid correspondents, who have aided us by giving their time and work without charge, we owe iniicli and want to assure them that we are not lacking In gratitude and apprecia¬ tion of their kindly and generous assistanee.
To such well known gentlemen as Senator Dunlap, of .Savoy. Colonel Tanner, of Springtield, Mr. I'otT and Mr. Ciulllander. of Olney, and otliers. for their splendid articles on orchard culture, we are grateful and feel that what these gentlemen have said in a practical way from their own exper¬ ience has given the orchard Industry of our counly a new lea.se of life with every promise of great benelits to come. We also feel grateful lo the business men of Klora and other towns who have given iS substantial tinanclal aid in advertising and lo our subscribers now nunibering near¬ ly twelve hundred, we are thankful nol only for their aid hut tlie many kindly words of appreciation and en¬ couragement for our etforts.
