A FINE CONVENTION
, The Thirty-Second Annual lonven- tlon of the Woman's Koreign Mis¬ sionary Society met In the Kirst Methodist church October '31-21, 1!M5. The convention was greeted with a welcome address, which made every one feel at liome, by Mrs, Mary Hola¬ day, The resimnse was given by Mrs, Kleming Cox, Aftertlieappointment of committees the regular program was taken up. The program was a unique one hiliowing lhe lliciiie •'Missionary Work in the Automohile Age," Mrs. Mary Heidlnger, Kalr¬ tield, 111,, gave an interesling talk on /•Starts and Stops," Mrs. K. M. Peters, Sumner, 111,, on the subject •'Shock Absorbers" told the delegates how to get the auxiliary over the rougii places. The solo by Mrs, O, L, Markman of Lawrenceville was very beautifully rendered and was indeed impressive. We are sure every one went away inspired ami lifted up. On account of sickness Mrs, .1. II, Gordon of Lawrenceville and Mrs. J, L, Bradley of Klora were not present to speak on "Self Starters, Sparkers, Cranks and Gears" and "Punctures, Causes and Cures," but these subjects were taken up in a round table way and some excellent thoughts were brought out.
The Children's Iiour was very beau¬ tifully and forcefully presented by Mrs, C, L, Peterson and .Mrs. L. W. Porter. At four o'clock Miss Carn- cross addressed tlie school ciiildren on "Tlie Children of China," She gave Insiglit Into the children lives In the dark land which was very touching and no doubt made lasting Impres¬ sions on the minds of the children antl young people.
The evening service was opened with devotions by .Mrs. E. E. Keisne, West Salem, 111, The Processional by the Dislrict Y. P. was very Im¬ pressive, and the antliem by the Klora Cliolr was just such as we always ex¬ pect from tlie.se excellent singers, .Miss Genevieve Capps, Conf. See,, presented Mrs. L. W. Porter with a cerlitieate of life membership. The address by .Miss Klora Carncross of Chlnklang, CMiliia. was most lmpres,s- ive, instructive and inspiring, sucli as is calculated to inspire great contidence in llie missionary work. The large audience present hir tlie address speaks well for tlie interest and en¬ tliusiasm of tlie Kiora people in the work of the Master,
The Tliursday morning session was given up to the business of the Dis¬ trict. The reports of the past year showed a deep and ever growing in¬ terest ill tlie work of the siH-iety. Addres.siin tithing was given by Mrs. O. L. Markman.^Lawrencevliie. Tills address vvas most impressive and wili no doubt do much to Increase tlie gifts to tlie SiK'iety. The afternoon session opened with devotions by Mlss Carrie Andrews, Oblong, 111, Mrs. .1. H, Stout dis¬ cussed the "hest Motor Power" in a very masterly and impressive way. She |-.npre,ssed the fact that spiritu¬ ality and prayer were es.seiitlal to suc¬ cess. Mrs, C, C, Culllson gave an In¬ teresting report of tha ISraiich meet¬ ing. District Aims for 1915 and 191() were presented by Miss Genevieve Capps, Conf, Sec. The District pledged Three Thousand for next year. In the absence of Miss Jones of Klat Rock Miss Rutli Gulden rendered a beautiful solo which was very much appreciated by the audience. The session closed with tiie Oimmunlon administered by Rev. M, C, Koltz as sisted by Revs, Barret and Lanter, Tiie session was a most spiritual and helpful one and we are sure that all were very much benetitted by It.
