Tuesday, Au|u8t 10th, 1915- County Attorney to be Elected
On next Tuesday, August the lOlh a special electIo(i will be held to fill the vacancy in the olHce of States' Attorney This election comes at a busy time of the year and a light vote will in all probability lie polled.
Frank Farrell of Louisville, we derstand, is going to stay on Democratic ticket as a candidate the otllce.
Mr. Farrell was in no sense a can¬ didate for the nomination and tiled no nomination papers as Is reijuired by tlie primary election law. The democrats liaving no catididate at the primary, a few scattering votes were cast for Mr. Farrell as a "Joke" as was said by the democratic paper the following week. Also a few scattering votes were cast for A. A. Adams of Flora as a I'rogressive candidate in tlie same spirit. Mr. Adains promptly withdrew his name as a candidate but Mr. Farr^l, as we are informed is going to "stick."
Now we liave nothing to sayagain.st Mr. Farrell as a man and citizen but as to his qualifications for tills par¬ ticular oltice, we have this to say, the otllce of states' attorney is nulte different from other counly otllces. Tliere are hundreds of good men In tills county who could till the otllce of county clerk, circuit clerk or county treasurer to perfection, but tliese same men would have no (jualllica- tion whatever to till the olhce of state's attorney and It is not to tlieir discredit that tills is so, because tliey liave never prepared themselves to perform the duties re
