Next Sunday, July 13th, at Christian Church, Flora, 111. Don't fail to hear Geo. L. Snively deliver that Great Oration at 10:30 A. M. Yes, 679 we expect in our Bible School at 9:30 A. M. GREAT CROWDS ARE COMING. DONT FAIL TO BE PRESENT. A CORDIAL WELCOME TO ALL FOURTH OF JULY A CREAT SUCCESS "When Johnny Comes Narchlng Home" the Most Enjoyable and Harmonious Celebration Ever Held in Flora. Thousands Gath¬ er to do Honor to Our Boys. Tlie Fourth at Flora was everything Its most enthusiastic friends hoped it would be. As everybody knows the celebra¬ tion was given and directed by Flora's Commercial Club, and the splendid success of the day was due In great measure to the harmony that existed among those who had been placed In charge of the details. It is true there were persistent re¬ ports in Flora and throughout the county right up to the hour of open¬ ing the grounds that an admittance fee of 50 cents for adults and 3.5 cents for children would be charged, and also there was a vicious rumor set In circulation to the effect that those entering the grounds in cars would, be arrested and fined by our city authorities; but neitlier of these stories, apparently, had any notice¬ able etTecton tlie attendance. Tliou.s- ands came from all p.irtsof the county, and also many from adjoining coun¬ ties, and tliey came by train, by auto, t)y carriage and wagon, and on horsebaclf until the grounds were crowded by a deligiited, contented and happy tlirong. Conservative es¬ timates place the afternoon attend¬ ance at 5,000, which was increased by at least 2000 for the night entertain¬ ment. It was, in sliort, a great and glorious day, meeting the fondest ex¬ pectations of its promoters, and Hll- Ifig the hearts of all present with joy and gladness. The ball game, which was called at 10 o'clock tn the forenoon, and was played by two teams selected from Flora's sphere twirlers, was spirited and well-matched, and afforded all lovers of Oils sport—the great Ameri¬ can game —an exciting hour and a half of fun and lively entertainment. Captain Walter Hopkins was in charge of this feature. Then came tlie banquet, or dinner, which was served on a big table in the Floral Hall: and if we should judge of the heartiness of which it was partaken of by the soldier Ixiys ami tlieir friends and the tine compli¬ ments they threw aliout as they ate. the conclusion would lie irresistible that this was the happiest event of the day—and perhaps It was. Two hundred and twenty soldier boys reg¬ istered, the most of whom partook of the hospitality so lavishly spread up¬ on the lioards. Many of them were served by their parents and friends, whose nanoes could not tie obtained by tlie Rei'ord. but we feel especial mention Is due Cul. and Mrs. J. M. Tanner.
