Law Enforcement Quick Reference Guide to the
Parking Program for Persons with Disabilities
The Secretary of State issues three types of parking placards:
Permanent Placards are issued to persons
with a permanent disability.
Temporary Placards are valid for up to 6 months if issued by
the Secretary of State, or 90 days if issued by a municipality.
Organization Placards are issued to non-profit organizations
that transport persons with disabilities.

PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES WHEN THE PARKING PRIVILEGES ARE BEING
USED. UNAUTHORIZED USE MAY RESULT IN A $500 FINE AND SUSPENSION
OF DRIVER’S LICENSE AND/OR REVOCATION OF THE PLACARD.
