2005 in Review
Seven Associate Programs added
Abingdon, Benton, DuQuoin, Rockford, United Business
Association of Midway, Six Corners Association, and
West Frankfort were added to the Associate level. In
2006, these seven Associate Programs will work towards
completing the ten designation requirements established
by the National Main Street Center so that they can
achieve active status.

Two Programs achieve active status
Two Associate Programs achieved active Illinois Main
Street status in 2005. Both Bloomington and Momence
successfully completed their ten designation
requirements thanks to energetic programs led by
Catherine Dunlap and Janine Loftus, respectively. The
ceremonies occurred in Bloomington’s historic
courthouse and in Momence’s Methodist Church. Pat Quinn presents an Illinois Main

Demand for Main Street grows
Application Workshops outline the procedures for
applying to the Illinois Main Street program. Held in May
in Springfield, Crystal Lake, and Collinsville, the three
workshops attracted representative from 20 Illinois
communities. Eleven of these towns subsequently
submitted an intent to apply to the state program.

Four Premier Programs named
Illinois Main Street named the first four recipients of the
newly established Premier Program designation. The
programs in Crystal Lake, Jacksonville, Quincy and St.
Charles have excellent, experienced Executive Directors
leading exemplary Main Street organizations. Each has
proven itself to be a statewide leader in downtown
