Perusing eBooks
Through participation in the Illinois Digital Academic Library Initiative, the
Illinois State Library has access to more than 1,900 academic, reference
and scholarly eBook titles. Subject areas include business, consumer health
and medicine, computers and information technology and general
reference.
Provided by netLibrary, eBooks are electronic versions of published books
that library patrons can browse, search, borrow, read and return over the
Internet. Because eBooks are available online, they are conveniently
accessible nearly anywhere and virtually anytime.
The netLibrary’s eBook collection is searchable by keyword, title, author
and subject. Users also may browse the collection by subject. After
locating an eBook using netLibrary’s Search or Browse options, users can
view the eBook or check it out online. Patrons may read an eBook for 15
minutes or check it out for approximately four hours.
To access an eBook, you must establish an account in netLibrary through
a publicly accessible computer located at the State Library. Once an
account is created, you may access eBooks using State Library terminals
or log in to the site remotely.
To create a netLibrary account:
Select the Create an Account link in the Log In
box on the right side of the page.
Enter your identifying information, including user
name, password and e-mail address in the fields
provided. (Note that user names are not case-sensitive,
but each user name in the netLibrary
system must be unique.)

complete the rest of the account information. The
security question will be used in conjunction with

password.

To log in to your netLibrary account:

name and password on the right side of the screen.
