Property Tax Appeal Board Meeting

1. ROLL CALL
Present: Carlos Montoya, Chairman; Sharon Thompson;
Michael Goral; Kevin Freeman; Walter Gorski
Chairman Montoya convened the meeting at 9:35 AM.
He then made a motion that the Board go into closed session
pursuant to section 2(c)(1) of the Open Meetings Act. Mr.
Goral seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
The Board reconvened from closed session at 10:00 AM.
2. Approval of the Board Minutes for the July Meeting:
Mr. Gorski moved to approve the minutes of the July 15,
2008 meeting. Mr. Goral seconded the motion and it carried
unanimously.
3. Clerical, Hearing Officer, Information Technology and
Fiscal Staff Reports:
Steve Waggoner advised the Board that as of August 13th,
there were 300 bins of new appeals that needed to be
docketed, of which 50% still needed to be date stamped.
We currently have 4 full time and 4 part time clerical
staff (Jason Golden left in July & Paula Wagoner, who has
been working as a retired 75 day employee, will be gone by
the end of September).
The hearing officers wrote 517 decisions for the August
