SUCSS FY2005 Annual Report Released; Website Usage Increases

In accordance with statutory guidelines, the State Universities Civil
Service System 54th Annual Report, covering fiscal year 2005, was
recently completed and forwarded to the Governor's Office. Several
additional copies of this Report were distributed to various legislative
offices and other administrative offices throughout the state of Illinois
higher education community. The FY05 Annual Report can also be
viewed and printed from the following website address -
http://www.sucss.state.il.us/ar.asp .
This report provides a general review of agency activities over the past
fiscal year and presents a brief outline of our mission, jurisdiction,
business objectives, and action plan for the upcoming year. We also
examine some basic employment and occupational trends and provide a
recap of our audit program and classification plan management process.
For the first time in FY2005, we were able to gather relevant information related to our website usage
with the intent to use this as a gauge of our overall communications and constituency interactions. As
many of you know, we have focused on increasing our communication capabilities and providing more
direct access to information. We have subsequently incorporated many technological tools into our
business processes and have made our website more interactive in several respects.
Throughout the course of each fiscal year, some interesting statistics emerge, most of which we hope
would support our operational objectives and common business goals. In this respect, we were
particularly pleased to see that our overall website usage in FY2005 had increased significantly from
the past fiscal year. Captured on page 38 of the FY2005 Annual Report is a comparison of website hits
across nine months in FY2004 and FY2005.
Specifically this comparison shows that our monthly website hits have increased tremendously over the
past year. We have seen a 65% increase in volume per month, from an average of approximately
20,300 hits per month in FY2004 to over 33,600 hits per month in FY2005. With the expansion of
