The State Universities Civil Service System quarterly newsletter, The
System News, will be featuring three new and different series of
articles in various upcoming issues. These three designated series
of articles will be added to the ongoing series “Insight”, with each
being featured periodically in the newsletter. We hope that this will
provide a wide and varied perspective of civil service employment,
related human resource activities, and the many historical and
business foundations of our complex system.
One new series will be titled “Insider” and will included articles written
by various civil service employees within the state's public higher
education community. This feature is intended to showcase the
many progressive ideas, support activities and community
involvements of our many civil service professionals across the
university system. Abrief biographical sketch of each participating writer will also be provided.
Another new series of articles will be called “University Spotlight” and will provide a brief university
profile with an emphasis on current local human resource activities and initiatives. Various campus
and agency human resource contacts, along with other university and agency website information,
will be utilized in creating these articles and provide a very basic institutional profile for our readers.
The other new series of articles will actually be some reprints or rewrites of historical documents,
articles, pictures, etc. and will be called “Cornerstone”. This is intended to provide more of a
historical perspective on the university system and should bring about many memories and maybe
even some laughs.
We extend our gratitude to the many experts who will be assisting us in the upcoming months in
preparing these articles and providing some real life insight into civil service employment, and
related activities across our system, and the major role these employees play in the higher
education community. These written articles will provide some insight on many topics, hopefully
creating a better understanding of civil service employment, and potentially affording an opportunity
for personal and organizational growth, evaluation, and introspection. Hopefully, you will enjoy
these new presentations and always feel free to offer your comments and suggestions.
