Information Distribution
Lewis T. (Tom) Morelock, Executive Director
The State Universities Civil Service System has many business processes built on the fundamental
concepts of constituency collaborations and interactive discussions. One of our major and most
important functions is to coordinate the delivery of information, collect and compile the discussion
points and input, and then analyze and guide the course of action along some line of consensus.
This exchange of information is vital in establishing a productive working relationship. Recognizing
the complexity of the organizational and political structure of our Illinois higher education
community, this task can become very difficult and complicated.
The first and primary element in any interactive, collaborative process requires the accurate and timely distribution of
information. This includes not only the preparation and presentation of information on specific new initiatives, such as e-testing
and website improvements, but also includes the delivery and presentation of information regarding even more
abstract topics, such as agency mission and goals. When reviewing agency activities over the past several months, it is
quite apparent that we have certainly taken this business component, the distribution and delivery of information, quite
seriously. A review of some of our recent onsite presentations over the last couple of months includes the following:
• April 29 SIUC Presentation/Open Forum – Leadership Council/CS Staff
• April 25 Senate Appropriations Committee Hearing
• April 20 Class/Testing Presentation – University Police Chiefs
• April 14, 15 Employee Advisory Committee
• April 6 Classroom Presentation – Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations, UIUC
• April 5 CS Staff Council Open Forum – EIU
• March 30 E-Test Demo/Training – ISU
• March 29 SUCSS Update Presentation – UIUC Secretariat
• March 24 NEIU Awards Program
• March 23 E-Test Demo/Training SIUE
• March 21 SUCSS Update Presentation – WIU CS Council/Administrative Staff
• March 21 CS Training Program Kickoff – WIU
• March 4 Management Development Program – Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations, UIUC
