EDI Depositor Training
Tuesday, July 22 and Thursday, Aug. 7
9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Illinois State Library,
5th-floor training room
To schedule a training session, visit the
CLeO site at finditillinois.org. If the per-son
who makes deposits for your
agency is changing, the new person
with the responsibility should be trained.
If these times and dates don’t work for
you or you need training outside of
Springfield, please call 217-782-5432 or
e-mail cfrankenfeld@ilsos.net.
“What’s New” on EDI
The “What’s New” page on EDI has an
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed,
which allows you to see when docu-ments
are added to the depository. Visit
http://iledi.org/ppa/index/WhatsNew.ht
ml and click on RSS to add the site to
your RSS reader.

Multiple Languages
The metadata generator now has the capacity to indicate more than one lan-guage
for a single publication. Now, when a publication is available in
English and one or more other languages, all languages may be chosen. Just
hold down the Control key while selecting as many languages as needed for
the particular publication. If more languages are needed in the dropdown list,
please call 217-782-5432 or e-mail cfrankenfeld@ilsos.net.
Affirmative Action Plans
State agency Affirmative Action Plans are due September 1 to the Human
Rights Commission. The Commission is sending information regarding elec-tronic
deposit requirements to all state agency Equal Employment
Opportunity officers. If you do not hear from your EEO officer, please be sure
to electronically deposit your agency’s Affirmative Action Plan.
PDF Properties
With the advent of Adobe Reader 8, there are now two different methods for
finding the producer software application and version. First, open the file. If
there is a triangle or arrowhead pointing to the right at the top of the scroll
bar, click on it and select Properties. If the triangle doesn’t display, go to the
menu bar and click File, then, select Properties. Either way, the software and
version used to create the file is in the Advanced box, following PDF
Producer.
New Subject Headings
The EDI Metadata Generator recently added two new subject headings:
• Law enforcement and the courts: Courts: Civil courts: Breach of contract
• Law enforcement and the courts: Courts: Civil courts: Liability
If you don’t find subjects on the list that accurately describe the contents of
your publications, just let us know so they can be added.
