Jesse White, Secretary of State and State Librarian
Electronic Documents Initiative
Depositor Training for the Electronic Documents Initiative will run through September. At that time development grant funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services will expire and the Electronic Documents Initiative depository will become an ongoing project supported by the Illinois State Library.
While funds are available to support frequent training sessions, weekly sessions will continue to be offered at the Illinois State Library in Springfield. Please take advantage of these training sessions to begin depositing electronic copies of your documents. This will bring your agency into compliance with Title 23, Part 3020.110 of the Administrative Code.
Register for training at the State Library’s continuing education Web site, www.islcleo.org. Click on the link Calendar of Events to view all of the remaining training sessions and work sessions scheduled on:

The morning training session (9:30‐Noon) explains what to deposit and how to use the Metadata Generator to create metadata for a document and submit it to the depository.
If you choose to attend the afternoon work session (1‐4 pm), you will be able to practice using the Metadata Generator and depositing your agency’s documents while a trainer is present to answer your questions. Attendance at the afternoon session is optional. You need only stay until you feel comfortable using the various features of the Metadata Generator.
Please register so that your personal EDI account is ready for you when you attend training.
To schedule a customized session for a group of your staff, please contact Anne Wendler with the Illinois State Library by calling 217‐417‐0495, or send email to email@example.com.
